Connections made in Glastonbury

The famous Glastonbury Festival takes place in the south-west of England every year.    In order to supply the increasing number of festival visitors with drinking water, they had to install new pipes for the campsite at Worthy Farm.

The campsite is separated from the rest of the festival grounds by two large road crossings. Because of the ground conditions, this project was perfect for the GRUNDOMAT 145. The mixture of rocks and boulders, with only a small layer of clay and the added issue of very wet ground conditions caused no problems for the GRUNDOMAT because of its high penetrating power.

At first, two PE pipes of Ø 32 mm and 90 mm were installed without causing any damage to the existing infrastructure. The GRUNDOMAT was then pulled back into the starting pit, simultaneously pulling in two further pipes of Ø 63mm and 32mm for the campsite. Although the finishing pit could not be seen from the starting pit because the road was overgrown with hedges on both sides, the GRUNDOMAT did the job very precisely. This has ensured that the supply lines can be connected to the existing mains over a mile away in good time for the festival.
